A Week Of Pictures

 This past Monday, Hannah an I went out for a treasure hunt...mainly looking for big rocks that we could  color with our sidewalk chalk.  But we got a little distracted by the puddle of water left from the rain the night before and decided it would be way more fun to splash around until we were soaked with muddy water...

 One more attempt at sidewalk chalk...not yet on Hannah's list of fun things to do...

 Bryan felt very privileged to be invited to one of Hannah's tea parties...

 We celebrated the first day of Spring by making a pretty flower...simple...only needed construction paper,  glue and scissors.  I cut the pieces out and then Hannah glued them in place with my help.

 And then decided it wouldn't be complete unless it was completely colored with markers...Hannah is learning about creation in Sunday School, so we talked about everything that God made...

 Bryan had to work on the lawn mower...

One of the ladies in my friend's ESL class is leaving to go back to Japan, so we had wonderful going away brunch for her...didn't get any pictures of Hannah and Lena playing, but they had a BIG time in Karen's play room...

A Beautiful Weekend

Grandmama came down the weekend of March 17th and 18th because I was scheduled to work on the Saturday and Bryan had alot of yard work to get done.  I think Grandmama and Hannah had a great time,  although, since I was working I didn't get a whole lot of pictures of them together.  But what a beautiful day we had on Sunday.  Hannah wore her first Spring Dress to church and we sat outside after lunch enjoying sherbert ice cream and blowing bubbles.

St. Patricks Day

I found this really cute and simple craft on "No Time For Flash Cards" blog and I thought it would be perfect for Hannah.   As long as I can remember, I have in some way celebrated St. Patrick's Day by either wearing green, doing something in grade school or just saying "Happy St. Patrick's Day!".  However, other than knowing it is an Irish Holiday when everyone wears green, I really didn't know what it was that I was celebrating or recognizing.  So, I decided to do a little research so that I could talk about it with Hannah as we were doing our craft and make sure there wasn't anything I was telling her that was wrong, or that I didn't think we should celebrate.  Evidently St. Patrick was persecuted for his faith when trying to bring Christianity to Ireland, which at one time was known to worship many different gods.  St. Patrick stressed to the people of Ireland that there was only one God and that He was a triune God.  He used the shamrock to explain the trinity of God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit as being one unit with three different purposes.  I had no idea that that was where the Shamrock came into play with St. Patrick's Day, did you?  I really don't know anything else about St. Patrick's core beliefs.   I also found out that the original color of St. Patrick's Day was blue, but it was changed to green because of the Shamrock.  As far as the Leprechaun with the rainbow and pot of gold, no one seems to know where in the world that came from in relation to St. Patrick's Day.  One thing I found on wikipedia was that a Leprechaun was at one time considered an evil spirit in Ireland and that was the opposite of St. Patrick.  Somehow along the years, it became a symbol of the Irish Holiday as well, but that makes no sense to me.   I decided we would stick to just the shamrock for our St. Patrick's Day craft and I would talk to Hannah about the Trinity.

 All we needed was shaving cream, glue, green paint, a bowl, something to mix it all up, a piece of construction paper and some scissors.

 I drew the shamrock on a piece of construction paper and after Hannah mixed all the ingredients up, it was time to puffy paint the picture...

 Can't see the actual shamrock under there...no worries... this was fun time to just get messy!  After the paint dries (24 hrs later), you just cut it out.

We weren't quite done playing in the homemade puffy paint, so after I set the shamrock aside to dry, we started doing letters and shapes in the green cream.  Hannah LOVED this! Every time I made a shape or letter, she would just say "more, more".   I had to get a picture of the H for Hannah.  I was of course the one doing the letters and shapes, but Hannah was able to copy a circle which I thought was pretty good!

The fun we've been up to!

I'm still growing!  This is me pregnant (in case you couldn't tell--lol!) at 7 months or 32 weeks.

Somebody got a new hat!  Although, it turned into June weather the very next week...

We did a simple craft that I actually meant to pull out back in the fall, but didn't think Hannah was quite ready for...this is her first time using school glue...

We visited our duck, Donald, down by the pond.  He normally doesn't get too close, but this day he waddled about 3 feet from us...and we didn't even have any food.  We normally feed him some corn a few times a week.

Hannah absolutely loves the big tunnel...it runs a close second to the swing...

Hannah always wants to get on this, well, I don't know what it is called.  I call it the "spinner".  There are usually several big kids playing on it, so Hannah doesn't get to have a turn at it, but on this day there was no one at the park and when I told her she could get on excitement would be an understatement.  She normally watches the big kids on it at a distance and it's almost like you can read her mind saying, "someday I'll be be big enough."  Well, today, she was big enough...

We played with sidewalk chalk which Hannah wasn't near as into as I thought she would be....maybe 10 minutes and she was "all done".

What fun summer time activities in March!

Just another side note:  Hannah moved into her "big girl room on Sunday, March 11th (sniff sniff).  She still has a crib, but her room looks so "big girl" now.  We were going to try her in the toddler bed conversion of the crib, but decided she already had enough changes going on right now.  Hannah's baby room is now Derrick's baby room.  We decided to do it this way for alot of different reasons that just made sense, but I'll spare everyone and our scrap book the details on that.  Hannah couldn't have transitioned better.  Grandmama came down that weekend to play while Bryan and I spent and entire Saturday painting her border and transforming what used to be our catch all room to Hannah's big girl room.  Hannah and I went the next week to toys r us and picked out some butterfly decorations and just last night we actually got them up on the wall.  We also have an original work of art on the wall  (a beautiful caterpillar) created by Taylor, our friend's daughter, that we bought at an adoption fundraiser.  We also just put up Hannah's freshly painted initial letters.  I will do a separate post of her "big girl" room pictures, but I didn't want to forget when we made the transition.  We are also just about done with Derricks's room, so I'll post pics of his room soon too.
