Off To Grandmama's House We Go

What a big weekend we've had!  So, we decided that it would be a great idea to leave for Grandmama's house (who lives in Lexington 3 1/2 hours away) after Hannah's last feeding so that she would sleep all the way there during the normal time that she would be asleep and hopefully stay asleep when we got there.  Well, part of the plan worked out great.  She did sleep all the way there, but woke up every hour after we got there.  Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess.  And Saturday was a new day full of fun times!  We had a great time at Monkey Joe's celebrating my nephew's 5th birthday (Monkey Joe's is a kid's paradise filled with tons of giant blowup bouncy fun and arcade fun) and then we headed back over to Grandmama's for lunch, nap and play time of our own.  Saturday night was much better with Hannah sleeping the night through (which means mommy sleeping the night through), and then Sunday we enjoyed visiting the church that Bryan and I got married in.  I really wanted to get a picture of Hannah with some folks from church, but after doing really well during the service it was too close to nap time to keep baby girl happy in strangers' arms.  We left for home right after lunch and took a fun little detour since we realized we weren't going to make it home in time for Hannah's next feeding.  This one goes down in the books as a great weekend filled with wonderful memories!

Sunday Lunch at Grandmama's...someday Hannah will get to appreciate Grandmama's best roast in the whole world!  My nephew, Wesley, spent the night with us and I wish I had gotten a picture of the homemade tent that he and Bryan slept under...

We got off the path home with a little road trip to Nolin Lake.  It was time for Hannah to eat and since we've never been to that area, we decided it would be a great place for me to nurse Hannah in the car and a great place to get out and stretch before trekking the last hour home. We got a little lost and I actually ended up feeding her in a church parking lot, but it was still a perfect place to get out and explore a little bit with Hannah.

The Poop Text

Although my main job is "mommy" I do work as an Occupational Therapist 2 days a week from about 3:30pm to 7:30pm.  Bryan gets home around 3:30 on those two days and begins his "Daddy time".  I pump so that Bryan can give her a bottle and then am home just in time to nurse Hannah before bed.  Other than a few snags with Hannah not wanting to take a bottle, it really has worked out perfectly so far.  Anyway, this brings me to my blog subject.."The Poop Text".  It really is funny the things you get excited about as a parent.  I mean, when Hannah was first born, I remember Bryan searching through the trash and yelling "Here it is!  I knew she had another poopy diaper!"  This was from the mouth of a former marine at that.  Well, about an hour into working on those two days, I almost always get a text from Bryan that goes something like this..."Just had monstrous poop!"  I normally text back with "Awesome!"  Then he texts back about an hour later with an update...."Great nap, best feeding ever, nails clipped, having a ball!"  And this just puts a smile on my face.  I am so blessed with an amazing husband who is an awesome dad to our precious girl!

A Cold Day in January

I thought it would be fun to post on just some random things that Hannah and I have done on a random day in January.  Nothing elaborate, and probably boring to some people, but pretty special to me....and definitely a memory to look back on in 10, 15 or 20 years......

My breakfast:oatmeal and blueberries/Hannah's breakfast:milk

                          We played with lots of toys and read lots of books

We played on mommy's exercise ball

We learned colors and felt of different fabrics in mommy's closet

We tried on an outfit that Hannah's Great Aunt made for my sister(I think it was Great Aunt...I'll clarify that in another post and hopefully have a pic of my sister in the dress in a later blog)

We turned the water "on" and "off" several times

We talked and laughed at ourselves in the mirror

We played with the rain forest mobile

And just a tid bit of random info...there are now two holes in the playpen where Bryan tried to rig the mobile to go on the playpen.  Evidently they are only made for cribs.  Anyway, she still likes to play with it...we just have to hold it now

Oh, and Hannah rolled over today...several times in a row so I know it wasn't on accident!  She's rolled over a couple of times in the past couple of weeks, but not twice in a row, so I wasn't sure if that should count.  Now I can't keep her on her stomach because she keeps rolling to her back. I got video of it, but I don't know how to download that into my blog just yet.  Stay tuned for the "rolling"video blog!

And it's only 1:30pm, who knows what the rest of the day will bring....Happy Thursday everyone!

One last Christmas Celebration

Bryan and I are both from very large families, so from since I can remember our Christmas Celebrations start early and have always lasted into January.  When Bryan and I married 8 years ago those celebrations doubled which I count as a blessing because I know there are many people who don't have family to celebrate with.  I think one year, we even had a celebration in February!  That's why each year as we make several trips up the bluegrass parkway, we thank God for sending us a Savior and for ALOT of family to share our thankfulness with.  Well, this past weekend was the 7th celebration of the Christmas season and Hannah's very first Big Pinkston (Pinkston is my maiden name) get together.  We always try to schedule our drive around her nap time, so we headed out around 11:30 Saturday morning.  Hannah slept the entire 2 1/2 ride and was ready to eat when we arrived at my sister's house.  She had a wonderful time playing with Grandmama and Aunt Pammie while I made my casseroles.  There were a few challenging moments as the weekend progressed but all in all I will always remember this weekend as a blessed one!  Here are a few pics from the weekend......

 Hannah's great Aunt Jane was the only one she let hold her other than me at the get together.  She's sleeping peacefully in Aunt Jane's arms....I guess you learn the tricks after years of working in the church nursery....

Hannah's Favorite Things

At just a little over 5 months old, (23 weeks today to be exact) Hannah has a few favorite things she likes to play with.  Some that were given to her by a few favorite people......

 She loves music...Bryan and I gave her a set of three fisher price instruments that plays music for Christmas...she likes the piano best.

 She loves her rolling ball that the Osbourne's gave her for Christmas.

 This was Hannah's first gift in the hospital that Nanny and Papaw gave her....she still loves it.

 Now that she can grab onto things, she loves these tag along toys that her Aunt Sachiko and Uncle Ashley gave her for Christmas.

 This is just a random toy that has a picture of a fish and turtle on it...she can be fussy, but hand her these and immediate silence follows...she loves to study them.

 She loves her first library of books that Grandmama gave her for Christmas.  I'm sure she already knows all of her colors and numbers(ha!ha!).

 She is mesmerized by the Ball Popper that Aunt Pammy and Uncle Rob gave her for Christmas.

 She loves her learning kitchen that Grandma and Papaw gave her for Christmas.  I always get a big smile when I turn it on.

 This has to be the overall best toy for a 5 month old.  Lots of colors, crinkly noises and chewing areas.  My friend Tresine gave her this....I think it's called "Freddie".

Hannah loves "Sid the Science Kid"!  The only cartoon she seems interested in.  Maybe we have a future Scientist on our hands!

Pretty as a Picture

Today I decided that I must take a picture of Hannah in the little sweater jacket that Bryan's grandmother Carney (Hannah's great grandmother) made for her.  I was afraid that she was going to get too big to wear it.  Thankfully she didn't fuss too much when putting it on her, which was a pretty big deal since she doesn't like changing clothes, wearing anything on her head and she's naturally hot natured and sweats anytime we put more than one layer on (one thing she did not get from her mama).  I even got a smile out of her!  Oh, and I added a couple of other pics from a couple of Sunday mornings before church......

Here are just a few precious moments with Hannah  I never want to forget......

• I love watching Hannah stretch her little arms when she first wakes up in the morning or from a nap.
• I love right after she gets done eating when she tries to talk to me with cooing and smiling.  Then after burping, she sits in my lap for a few moments of what I call "chill out" time.  So sweet.
• I love dancing in the kitchen to Praise music (or Christmas music in December) in the morning or right before she naps.
• I love watching her talk to the camera monitor in her room when first waking up from a nap.
• I love bath time, especially right after when she's snuggled up in a blanket and she nuzzles her face into my neck.
• I love watching her smile and laugh when Bryan makes animal noises.

A look back at 2010

Okay, so here it is....my first blog post.  I never thought I would ever have one because, first of all, I really don't have all that much to say, and secondly, It takes me forever to arrange my thoughts.  And lets face it, I'm not the best at checking facebook, e-mail, or doing anything on the computer for that matter.  But I decided after thoroughly enjoying several of my friends' blogs, that I would give it a go.  So, the purpose of this blog is to not miss the simple and momentous moments of mamahood and to share with family and friends all the new and exciting things that my baby girl is doing and learning each and everyday.  I'll begin with a look back at 2010....quite an eventful year...
