Hannah turned 18 months old on February 4th and it is amazing to me to see the changes physically as I look back at pictures and to realize how much she has learned. She is like a sponge soaking everything in and even the things you might not think she is taking in...she is....Here are a few things about Hannah that I want to remember at this stage.......
1. She is very much like her mama in a sense that she is very particular about certain things and loves routine, but she still has her daddy's silly personality.
2. She loves to eat! She's not a big snacker, but she eats big at every meal and pretty much anything we put in front of her, from spinach to avocado. Last night for supper she had blackberries, oranges, peaches, peas and white beans. Her favorite though right now is pears, oranges and apples. She still has trouble chewing some of her meats, but does pretty good with tender chicken, deer hamburger and salmon. When we do have a snack, it is usually when we are out and about running errands...she knows that I always have gold fish in her bag when we are away from the house. She also still loves those yogurt bites.
3. Her favorite treat is ice cream for sure...especially Chaney's. Her pick would be vanilla from Chaney's and when we are at home orange sherbert. Treats are so fun! Oh, and sugar cookies would definitely be on her list of favorites for treats.
4. She tried to start feeding herself with utensils right about this time. I would put the food on the spoon or fork for her and then she would take it to her mouth switching back and forth between right and left hand. She now (at 19 months) is starting to scoop it herself. For the most part we let her. It takes a little more time and there's a little more mess, but she's doing a great job learning hand/eye coordination.
5. Hannah has grown to love her stuffed animals and dolls. I don't know if you remember some of my past posts, but she used to not want to have anything to do with them. It's so fun having tea parties with all her friends!
6. Hannah has been going "poo poo" on the potty since she was 9 months old. I know this seems odd, but ever since she started on regular foods at 6 months, she has had trouble going to the bathroom. So, at 9 months, I just started holding her on the potty thinking gravity would help, and it did. At about 15 months, Hannah started letting me know when she needed to go poo poo on the potty. Before then, it was pretty easy for me to see the signs and just take her, or know what time of the day she normally goes. I don't think she's gone poo poo in her diaper since at least before 9 months. As far as pee pee goes, at about 18 months she would let me know she needed to go, but not very consistent. I started at this time taking her before and after nap, first thing in the am, before bed and after meals. She was really excited about potty time at first, but in the past couple of weeks (she's 19 months right now) she has decided that she's really not interested as much. I still try to take her before and after naps, etc. and especially when she wakes up from a nap with a dry diaper and she always goes when I take her. But, I'm not going to push it...not until after we are all settled in with baby Derrick being at home.
7. Hannah dropped her morning nap right around 17 months. She now takes one afternoon nap lasting about 1 hour and 45 min to 2 hours.
8. Hannah sleeps usually 11 1/2 hours at night. Bedtime at 7:30pm and normally wakes up around 7:00am. When she is really tired, she will say "night night". She is always ready to get in her bed. We have a routine of brushing teeth, reading a book sometimes (if she's not too tired) reading her scripture border that is around her room, lots of kisses and then lay her down in her bed. She normally lets out one big cry that literally lasts about 5-10 seconds, sometimes will talk to herself for a few minutes and then is out like a light. She wakes up happy in the am unless I have to wake her up (like on the mornings I have moms in touch and we have to be out the door earlier). She likes to wake up, talk in her bed, then when I come up to get her she likes about 30 minutes of wakeup time with books or playing with her dolls.
9. Hannah still loves for you to talk to her and tell her stories...about everything! She loves for you to tell her about everything that we are going to do every day for the next week. And when you think you have finished, she'll look at you and say "more". She likes for you to talk to her in the car and she likes to talk. If you aren't talking to her, she is talking to you.
10. Hannah gets frustrated easily when she can't do something. For instance, her shape sorter...if she can't get it in the right hole, she will grit her teeth and sometimes cry and throw a little fit saying "mommy do it". I try to tell her to keep trying....and she does sometimes. Sometimes she gets really upset. I'm trying to teach her that it is ok if she can't do something, and that it's not a big deal, that if she practices she will eventually get it...but that's hard to communicate to a 19 month old though...
11. Hannah loves to help doing chores around the house! I hope this continues!
12. She has such a sweet little personality. She likes going and doing things, but she really is a homebody. After we've been gone doing something during the day, when we pull into our drive, she always smiles this sweet smile and says "Hannah's house".
13. She loves to sing...loves music!
14. At 18 months she was in number 3 diapers....she just switched to # 4 diapers at 19 1/2 months.
15. She loves doing "actibities" aka...crafts, coloring, etc. She loves sitting at the table doing any kind of activity that involves glue, shaving cream, paint or coloring (actually, I think the glue, paint and shaving cream started more like at 19 months).
16. She at 18 months was wearing 3 1/2 size shoe....now at 19 months is in size 4.
17. She still wears some 18 month clothing, but can now wear 24 month and some 2T.
18. I don't know how many words she actually knows, but she sometimes says actual sentences. It blows my mind that I can sit and actually have a conversation with her...when did she grow up from baby to little girl?
19. We've also been working on colors, shapes and counting to 10. She can identify (this is at 19 months) most of her basic colors 75% of the time, can identify and say the shapes circle, square, triangle, diamond, dome, star, heart...she still has trouble with rectangle, and just this past week she counted to 10 out loud. She gets really embarrassed when trying to get her to count, but she will eventually...although as far as consistency, she still skips a number every once in a while. Alot of the time we have to say every other number and then she'll say the number that comes after it up to ten.
20. Hannah loves to waller! I don't know if that is an actual word or not, but she loves to just wrestle around on the floor with me and Bryan, climbing over you and under. I think this would be at the top of her list right now of favorite things to do.
21. She loves bath time!
22. She loves making silly faces in the mirror.
So, there's 22 facts about my girl right now at 18 to 19 months old...no pictures, just facts for Hannah's baby book....LOVE HER SO MUCH!
